No. You were thinking about holding off forever, or until your computer gives up the gost, and even then you'll look for a copy of XP for your new computer.
When you have no choice, you'll just get a new computer, but that won't be upgrading, that will be a new computer.
Smile.

there will always be a special place in my heart for xp...that being said, win7 isn't so bad but I dread the day that I have to use win8 from what I hear...

Post 11 by chelslicious (like it or not, I'm gonna say what I mean. all the time.) on Sunday, 19-Jan-2014 11:03:20

Post 12 by JH_Radio (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Sunday, 19-Jan-2014 12:18:24

Actually in all seriousness, i've found windows 2000 and XP to be stable. My parents say win 7 is also stable which is good. (who remembers Win98, one thing would crash and the entire thing would just go booooom?)
horible!

Windows 8.1 isn't that bad. It's way faster than XP.

Post 16 by starfly (99956) on Monday, 03-Feb-2014 11:58:36

I have to ask what is so bad about upgrade a system to win7? Its the alternative to having win8 or win8.1 and its still getting support by MS.

As a broadcaster it's not an option unless I pay a fortune to get spl, and even that sounds atrocious. I've been using the winamp and two card method for all these years, and it's worked.

there's gotta be a way with windows 7 to do that.
as far as me, i will upgrade when jaws stop supporting xp.

You should be good for a while then.

Post 20 by forereel (Just posting.) on Tuesday, 04-Feb-2014 10:59:08

There is a way to use 2 sound cards on Windows 7 and 8. Simply select them as you do with XP. I've done it, know people that do it.
Also Windows 7 and 8/8.1 has a feature that allows you to lower or raise separate running programs sounds.
Example, if I have something playing on IE, I can lower that volume so I can listen to music and do other things with Jaws using one card.
Suppose I want to have music on IE, lower the alerts sounds that come in on Skype, raise the Jaws, lower the computer sounds, so they don't bother the music, and use Firefox, and it has a quick voice Video I want to hear over the other stuff. I can do all of this.
One card. I can also mute anything.
Now if I have music playing and get a Skype call, I can set it so that it mutes the music when the call comes in, or lowers it.
When you have 2 cars running you just add to the feature, and you can see both cards easy in the sounds sections, and control them separately.
Feature works with Media Player, Win Amp. You could run Winamp in the two instances format and control them both.
(sweet stuff folks)

Better not. You'll have to give up XP. You can't do that John! You just can't!
